Sometimes, a guitar's regular sustain just isn't enough. Moreover, the notes disappear as soon as you let go of the frets. This plugin solves that by:
1. Detecting note onsets from the input signal
2. Recording a short sample after each onset
3. Looping the sample, crossfading it into itself
So far, this all seems similar to what the Gamechanger Plus Pedal does. However, Sostenahto builds upon this, tackling a major flaw in the original
- pressing the pedal too quickly results in artifacts in the sustained sound. What Sostenahto does instead is add a step:
2.5. Extend the recorded sample's length using a Phase Vocoder
This results in a less noisy output signal, and also has the effect of creating consistency across each sustained sound, at the cost of poorer performance with trills and vibrato.
